Biografia

Si laurea all'Università di Toronto, si trasferisce in Inghilterra dove comincia a collaborare con la BBC. Nel 1986 fonda il Canadian Centre for Advanced Film Studies di Toronto. E' vedovo dal 2004 di Margaret A. Dixon hanno avuto tre figli Michael, Kevin e Jennifer tutti nel mondo dello spettacolo. Ha ricevuto Officer of the Order e Companion of the Order of Canada per i servigi resi all'industria cinematografica.
